Arm Drop Drags

I'm finding that the key to being successful with anything is picking up the tools around you, whether proverbial or physical, and start building. No mistakes. Only growth. Only learning. Don't be afraid to ask a stranger for help with the next step and let things naturally progress with effort.

This idea for Arm Drop Drags stemmed from events that took place in Acuna, Mexico. Yeah, the same Acuna that George Strait sings about. Where a wild mix of clapped out shit box's all the way to trailer queen quality cars would run down a sketchy ass, narrow road, lined with unruly Tecate downing spectators, running for the title. The margin for error was ZERO and the intensity was unreal. "Balls Out" I used to call it. The road leveled the playing field and the "fastest car" didn't usually win.

I thought it might be impossible to duplicate that vibe in a world of rules and regulations. When I saw Marc's smiling face watching his son holding the King of the Hill trophy art he'd just won, I knew I hit the mark, mission accomplished. My Dad who took me to those wild races was looking at me the same way. Glad you could make it Pops.

It seemed a little far fetched to think it was an achievable goal, but damn it if it didn't go better than I could've imagined.

Video content and a limited run of event art merch will be available as soon as I load the last of the hay bales off the strip and get the artist's in motion.

The guys that helped this idea happen:

The land owner who was gracious enough to take the risk of holding such a "high risk event" on his property. Hats off to ya my man, can't thank you enough.

My friend and business partner Mercury Charlie is like no other. Ask Charlie how he's doin' and your sure to hear him say, " Just another day in the fast lane." I used to laugh at that but damn it if that man doesn't live by that motto. True Texas legend. He backed this crazy idea without hesitation.

My Brother Mark Co-Founder, who with his years entrepreneurial experience can make magic out of seemingly thin air.

The Crew at Mercury Charlie's with their unique mix of multi generational skills and dedication to craft that is hard to duplicate. Including Riley who made the badass "King of the Hill award" and the "King of Kool award." Also to our new apprentice Brett who walked in at the right time and was gracious enough to donate his skills for tackling all the nuances of event planning. Thanks guys.

Kyle Strode who whipped the art together for the flyer in no time flat and had nothing but good advice with the event.

The "12 Kings Car Club" out of Wimberley, Texas. I've never run across a more stand up group of guys. Jay Styles, their chairman, throws down hay bales as well as his sweet '57 lays down rubber stripes. That '57 ended up being the poster boy of this event on facebook, christening the strip with a couple hundred feet of rubber a couple days before the event. Little did he know that he would be the winning the Muscle Car group! Congratulations Jay.

Skot Ingram for bringing out his historically badass Flat head 3232 car and showing a hole new generation what flathead power looks and sounds like.

Jesse James for showing his support by laying rubber the entire length of track exhibition run with his "Rampage" machine. It lived up to it's name. The man knows how to make an entrance.

Until the next one.
